Revenir

In parte viaggio, in parte memoria, in parte indagine giornalistica, REVENIR segue Kumut Imesh, un rifugiato della Costa d’Avorio che ora vive in Francia, mentre ritorna nel continente africano e tenta di ripercorrere lo stesso viaggio che lui stesso ha intrapreso quando è stato costretto a fuggire dalla guerra civile nel suo paese. Questa volta ha con sé una telecamera con cui cerca di raccontare la lotta umana per la libertà e per la dignità, su una delle rotte migratorie più pericolose del mondo.

Part road-trip, part memoir, part journalistic investigation, REVENIR follows Kumut Imesh, a refugee from the Ivory Coast now living in France, as he returns to the African continent and attempts to retrace the same journey that he himself took when forced to flee civil war in his country.  But this time he has a camera in his hand and he try to reveal the human struggle for freedom and for dignity on one of the most dangerous migratory routes in the world.

David Fedele è un documentarista pluripremiato, nato in Australia, che ora passa gran parte del suo tempo tra i continenti europeo e africano. È particolarmente interessato ad esplorare questioni culturali, umanitarie e di giustizia sociale. I suoi film hanno affrontato argomenti  diversi come la migrazione dall’Africa sub-sahariana al Marocco, i rifiuti elettronici in Ghana e il disboscamento illegale a Papua Nuova Guinea. I suoi film sono stati trasmessi e proiettati in tutto il mondo, e hanno vinto numerosi premi.

David Fedele is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, born in Australia and now spending most of his time between the European and African continents. He is particularly interested in exploring cultural, humanitarian and social justice issues. His films have been broadcast and screened widely around the world, winning numerous prizes.

Kumut Imesh. Nato in Costa d’Avorio, nel 2004 è costretto a fuggire dal suo paese martoriato dalla guerra. Dopo lunghe peregrinazioni si stabilisce in Marocco, per 7 anni, lavorando per ONG ed associazioni che offrono supporto e assistenza ai migranti.

Nel 2013 incontra il regista David Fedele e si appassiona al cinema documentario con l’obbiettivo di raccontare storie da una prospettiva africana. Così nasce l’idea di produrre REVENIR.  Attualmente Kumut vive e lavora in Francia.

Kumut Imesh. Born in Ivory Coast, in 2004 he was forced to flee civil war in his country. He began the long journey across the African continent before finally arriving in Morocco, where he spent 7 years with NGOs and associations working closely with other migrants, providing support and assistance.

In 2013 he met the film director David Fedele in Morocco, and his interest in documentary filmmaking grows especially for the potential to tell stories from an African perspective. Here the idea of Revenir born. Kumut currently lives and works in France.
